Sequim Athletic Hall of Fame

What We Do

The Sequim Athletic Educational Foundation exists to raise funds for Sequim students and student athletes in the Sequim School District. We strive to provide opportunities for current students to learn from alumni and raise funds for Sequim students and their athletic department to expand educational opportunities.

Sequim Hall of Fame 2026

More than 200 people — inductees and their family members, friends and colleagues, along with community members and committee volunteers from the host Sequim Athletic Educational Foundation — celebrated the 2026 Sequim Hall of Fame honorees while raising tens of thousands of dollars for Sequim athletics and scholarships.

Funding the future

Fundraising totals for this year are still being processed. The inaugural 2024 Sequim Hall of Fame inducted eight individuals and one team, and in the process raised about $28,000 for Sequim High School athletics. Those funds were used to purchase new wrestling mats and a new sound system for the high school athletic field, as well as a new high jump and pole vault mats for the track team.
In 2025, the second Sequim Hall of Fame event saw Sequim community members raise more than $50,000 that helped purchase a sound system for the Sequim High School gymnasium and an LED portable scoreboard.

As per tradition, the Sequim Hall of Fame also awarded two, $2,500 scholarships to graduating Sequim High School students.

As with the 2024 and 2025 Hall of Fame classes, this year’s inductees will receive a plaque detailing their honor, and their names will be listed on a large plaque to be placed at the Sequim High gymnasium.

The event hosts also got some help from special young volunteers: Local Scouts led a Color Guard presentation and cleared tables, while Sequim High School cheerleaders helped with the evening’s raffles and other duties.

The Hall of Fame Committee wishes to express gratitude for the support of the community members who funded and attended this event.

The 2027 Sequim Hall of Fame events will be held at 7 Cedars Resort on Friday, Sept. 10, and Saturday, Sept. 11.

Scholarships

Our scholarship program celebrates the achievements, character, and potential of Sequim High School graduates by helping them take the next step toward their future. Funded through the Sequim Hall of Fame and the generosity of community supporters, these annual scholarships recognize students who demonstrate academic commitment, leadership, service, perseverance, and involvement in athletics, vocational pursuits, or extracurricular activities. Each year, selected recipients are awarded financial support to pursue higher education, carrying forward the legacy of influential community members like Aubrey and Carol Verstegen and John Knapman Jr., whose lives and values continue to inspire the next generation.
